My Network Connected
My limited network has expanded my avenues of learning as a result of technology. Learning is no longer bound by the confines of a physical library, books, newspapers, radio, or television. Technology created unimagined sources for information flow and consumption within a few short years.
I prefer to read information from several sources obtained over the internet. When searching a topic of interest or seeking an answer to some question, I pick and choose what to read. I am cognizant of the source of the information and, depending on what topic I am researching, decide on the merits of that information. I also like to listen to political commentaries and debates.
From personally observing the dissemination of information over the past 50+ years, I often wonder what methods future generations will experience in acquiring information and learning to absorb that information. It seems that access to information is expanding exponentially and instantaneously, which may be a challenge to future learners who may have to select what to learn. Then again, with the assistance of technology, learners may simply absorb all knowledge as they sleep.

Hi Clarice,
ReplyDeleteThe future tools of technology will continue to grow as time moves forward. Just like the in times of now, technology will advance and manage these in times with bigger and better innovations by creating more accessible resources for learners to acquire the knowledge and skills to succeed.

Having been able to see the transition of how people get information over the past 50+ years must be really interesting. I think it is becoming increasing important that people understand where they are getting their information. How would you recommend we teach youth to get information from valid sources?
ReplyDeleteClarice,
ReplyDeleteThe ever expanding world of technology will continue to add more ways for people to acquire knowledge, but they will adapt to it like we have. My mom is not a proponent of all the technological advances available to her at the age of 62, but she retired early and really has no use for anything other than the Internet, a cell phone, and Skype. She has the basics. In order to be successful in the business world, you had to adapt with the ever changing world of technology and future generations will do the same. I agree, it will be interesting to see all the new changes and ideas that surface as we continue through this digital age.
